Setup

  • Required plugins (declared in the .uplugin): Dynamic Wind (Experimental) and Procedural Mesh Component.
  • Rendering: DirectX 12 / SM6, Nanite Foliage on (r.Nanite.Foliage=True).
  • Right-click a Static Mesh > Rig in Wind Studio (or use the Wind Studio toolbar button). Nothing is generated on load.
  • Right-click a Skeletal Mesh > Edit in Wind Studio:
    • Third-party meshes (Houdini, PVE, Blender...): the bone hierarchy, bones and skin weights are imported, parts are split by the hierarchy (Trunk + one part per branch) and the original weights are kept as paint layers. The geometry is copied to SM_<Name>WindSource; Build creates SK<Name>_Wind without touching the original.
    • Meshes built with the Studio: the source mesh, parts, bones and wind settings are restored, and Build replaces the mesh in place.
